Safety Tips for College Campus
As much as safe your campus may seem there always can be some danger involved. It is important to stay safe during your student life so here is the list of tips on how to stay out of troubles.
Do not attempt to drive after you consumed alcohol. As a result you may cause road accident which can lead to serious problems. Persuade others to do the same. Drink responsibly. It is also important not to ride with a driver who is drunk. If you are against drinking, ask your friends to appoint you a designated driver. This way you can keep yourself and your friends safe on the road.
Keep your drink attended
There are many cases when students left their drinks unattended and someone added drugs or some other stuff into it. You may not notice this even if you turn your attention away just for seconds. If you notice that something was slipped into your drink, refuse to try it. It's a better idea to but another one in order to prevent problems.
Don't even think of doing drugs. Say no to others who think otherwise. The majority of colleges have policies against using drugs but despite this incidents still occur. If you're truly concerned with your safety, drugs are not an option.
Someone approaches you on the party and asks to ride him home. Even when you saw this person once or twice, it is not the reason to say yes. Consider saying no in case when the person makes you feel uncomfortable or invites friends to ride with you. You can only take your friends that you can trust.
Location and safety policies
Learn about safety procedures and policies of your university. This information usually can be found at the website of the university. You can also familiarize yourself with the location of emergency phones. They are there to connect students with safety officers.
Walking alone in the night
If you think that walking on campus during night hours is unsafe for you, use the services of school staff or security officers. It is their job to provide security for students so feel free to ask for help.
It might be dangerous especially for female students to attend campus parties. In case when the party gets too aggressive or wild, you should immediately leave. When people get overly drunk, they can do aggressive things and injure others. Female students often experience unwanted sexual intercourse during college parties.
If a person threatens or harasses you in any way, contact the safety officers. You should act the same if you are a witness to the crime that was committed on campus.
The student years are the best for having fun. But it is important to live safely and teach others about threats that are involved during life on campus. Be prepared for emergencies and keep your phone with you to contact security or call your friends when unthinkable happens. Stay safe and enjoy college responsibly.
