Research Paper in One Day
If you like procrastinating much, you are familiar with such situations. You told yourself that were going to start working on your research paper a week ago but procrastinated once again. Well, there is no time to argue about your time management: the paper is due tomorrow.
It is clear that you cannot write as good as you could if you started according to original plan. However, there might be a way out of this situation. Let"s review steps that you can take in order to write a research paper in one day or even less.
Pick a topic
Your topic has to depict something you have your own opinion about. If you feel strongly about some topic, then choose it immediately. You'll see why later. Secondly, the topic you selected should be backed up by literature, so you have to have it as well. Ensure your topic has some depth. It is recommended not to write about something like "Delivery guys should be rewarded with a free cup of coffee." That is so lame. Such topic can work only in case when your instructor has really good sense of humor. And, of course, you have what it takes to write a research paper about something like that.
Make a list of your arguments
This list will include the following information. Firstly, you should describe each possible result of the research question in the nearest future and in the far future. Secondly, you should include information about people that will be affected by the topic. Besides, any recent information about the topic should also be added. Lastly, think of something about your topic and specify your personal thoughts. The key here is to think about everything. Regardless of what thoughts you have, write them down. It can make you instructor go like "Hmm, I did not think about this one."
Reorder everything you have written down
Make sure you have described the most obvious arguments first. Then, you should write about secondary arguments. Next, it is necessary to write down a list with points that are supposed to prove your initial thesis statement. When you have a hard time finding these points, keep trying. Change keywords if you're searching on the internet. Remember there is a countless number of newspapers, reports, publications and articles in the world so some of them contain the information needed for you. But, at the same time, be as selective of the sources as you possibly can. In the end, you will have an outline for your research paper.
As soon as you are done with reordering the information, ask yourself: 'If I was in charge of the situation, what would I do about the problem?"
Stay away from your computer and smartphone.
No, no, no: you can check how much time passed with a wrist watch. Stay away from computer and everything else that can distract your attention. Go outside to your backyard. Just sit there and write and you will see how faster you will be writing.
